Description of the Route

The Great Ocean Road tours is a well-known road trip in Victoria. It offers scenic views of pristine beaches, rainforests, and limestone rock formations.

Experience the breathtaking 12 Apostles and iconic rock formations near Port Campbell National Park in Victoria. Immerse yourself in the beauty of the natural landscape and let our guides provide you with fascinating stories and historical insights that have shaped this remarkable coastline.

After leaving Melbourne, we travel to the Surf Coast, passing through seaside towns like Anglesea, Lorne, and Airey’s Inlet. Along the way, we take a break for morning tea and enjoy the fresh sea air while watching surfers. With its proximity to Antarctica, this area offers excellent surfing conditions and highlights the importance of wearing wet suits.
Stop at the Great Ocean Road monument, which denotes the original point of origin for the Great Ocean Road. Following a brief photo opportunity at the iconic Memorial Arch and a historical overview of the soldiers responsible for constructing this road in honour of their deceased comrades, we will proceed through additional breathtaking vistas (naturally, pausing for photographs along the way).
During the journey, there will be stops along the Great Ocean Road in search of Koalas in their natural habitat. Since they are wild animals, there is no guarantee of their whereabouts, but our experienced guides are familiar with the best locations in the bush for spotting them while they sleep.
During the lunch break, guests can enjoy some free time in Apollo Bay (approximately 45 minutes) to explore, buy souvenirs, or try delicious ice cream. Afterwards, the tour resumes with a bus ride to the Great Otway National Park inland.

Continuing from the Great Ocean Road, we enter the Great Otway National Park. The hills here are lush and green. Driving by tall Eucalyptus trees, we reach a patch of Cool, Temperate Rainforest. Walking through the tree ferns, you’ll be amazed at the scenery. The ‘ancient relics’ Myrtle Beach trees provide perfect canopy shade and date back to when Australia was part of Gondwanaland. Please take a deep breath of fresh air before we drive to the dramatic Shipwreck Coast for a relaxing experience.

Once out of the trees and back by the Southern Ocean, you will arrive at Port Campbell National Park, home to the iconic 12 Apostles. You will have approximately 40 minutes to spend at the Apostles, giving you free time to admire the views from various angles, walk along the boardwalks, and capture the perfect pictures of this wild and rugged coastline.
Additionally, within the National Park, visitors can explore Loch Ard Gorge, famous for being the location of one of Australia’s most renowned shipwrecks. Visitors can also learn about the captivating story of Tom and Eva and explore the beach in search of caves. This area also has various rock formations, including Island Archway, Razorback, and the ‘Salt and Pepper Shakers’.
After a day of exploring, we left the Great Ocean Road and headed back to Melbourne through country roads. We pass through farmlands on our way to the town of Colac. If you like, you can grab dinner here (at your own expense), as we will arrive back in Melbourne at around 8:30 pm.
