Description of the Route

Embark on day-long expeditions from Darwin to Kakadu with us as we explore the World Heritage-designated Kakadu, immersing in the grandeur of Australia’s most expansive terrestrial national park.

Setting off from Darwin, our journey leads us to Kakadu National Park, traversing lush floodplains and diverse terrains. The park encompasses over 20,000 square meters of indigenous plant and animal life and hosts crucial Aboriginal rock art locations.

Our initial halt is at the Adelaide River, offering opportunities to participate in the thrilling Jumping Croc Cruises (optional) or to visit the Fogg Dam Conservation Centre situated on the ancestral grounds of the Limilngan-Wulna people (who actively oversee and preserve the reserve). A prime spot for encountering the distinctive wildlife of the Top End, the centre serves as a sanctuary for various native birds, turtles, water pythons, and saltwater crocodiles.

Next, we visit the Bowali Visitor Centre, providing a deep dive into the region’s rich Aboriginal art, culture, history, and importance. Here, you’ll have time for a lunch break (at the expense of the travellers). We also stop at the infamous Cahills Crossing, one of the nation’s most hazardous waterways and the sole vehicular passage between Kakadu National Park and Arnhem Land, for crocodile spotting.

Following this, we reach the World Heritage Site, Ubirr, and embark on a guided tour of this hallowed locale, home to some of the oldest and most well-preserved rock art globally.
