Itinerary

Our day trip from Melbourne showcases the Grampians National Park’s stunning features. The ancient landscapes seem almost timeless with their rugged mountains and sandstone ridges. Led by an experienced guide, you’ll gain a deeper appreciation of the area’s natural beauty and history.

Leaving Melbourne, we travel 250 km west through areas rich in Victorian Goldrush heritage. This trip includes a stop in a charming town to discover mining history and enjoy morning tea or coffee.

Upon reaching the scenic Grampians, we visit the Brambuk Aboriginal Cultural Centre. Here, you’ll immerse yourself in the Indigenous lore tied to the diverse landscape. Keep an eye out for local wildlife like wallabies, emus, and echidnas while exploring the centre.
Reeds Lookout offers panoramic views of Lake Wartook, Victoria Valley, and the Mount Difficult Range. A hike through gum trees and unique rock formations leads to The Balconies, where the renowned ‘Jaws of Death’ and breathtaking vistas await, including scenery featured in ‘Princess Mononoke.
We hiked to Victoria Valley’s famous Mackenzie Falls, experiencing its powerful cascade and refreshing spray. The hike involves about 250 steps, but an alternative flat path over the falls is available. If Mackenzie Falls is inaccessible, we’ll hike to the serene Silverband Falls instead.

At Boroka Lookout, capture the essence of the Grampians’ landscape. Depending on weather conditions, we might visit Lake Bellfield for a walk along the dam, nestled between mountain ranges.

In Halls Gap, kangaroos graze on the grass each evening, making lawn mowers unnecessary! You’ll likely see kangaroos, echidnas, wallabies, and various Australian birds. While feeding wildlife is prohibited, be ready for photo opportunities.

The journey back to Melbourne includes a dinner stop (own expense). Reflect on a day filled with discovery as you return to your starting point or nearby public transport, arriving around 8.30 pm.
